DIGC335 Assessment Two

🗯2/10 Notable Figure of Cyberculture🗯 Vannevar Bush’s notable piece, ‘As We Way Think’ (1945) heavily resonates with my central idea of utilizing a social network, such as Instagram, into something that projects new experiences – these new experiences being an opportunity for business to extend their branding to potential clients/customers. By pulling the technologies and capabilities of Instagram posting, much like how Bush discusses creating new experiences, I want to highlight how Instagram as a technology opens a branding and marketing platform for businesses. 📷 | Image from kelty.org – http://kelty.org/or/classes/375/lectures/bush0226.html #vannerbarbush #technology #instagram #digitalartifact #branding #cyberculture #businessbranding #brandpositioning #socialmediamarketing #smallbusiness #uni #university #assignment

🗯3/10 The Memex🗯 I want to highlight very strong similarities between the memex and the platform of instagram. For starters, both platforms: -Are constructed on a basis of associations, curation and collections of data. -Contain trails of associated data, as seen by Instagrams use of geo tags, user tags and hashtags, along with the memex’s strict connections and curations. -Use of collections, tags, curation and associated information allow for rapidly increased speed of data sharing. 📷 | Image from Computer History Museum – http://www.computerhistory.org/revolution/the-web/20/370/2111 #memex #hashtag #data #datasharing #geotag#vannerbarbush #technology #instagram #digitalartifact #branding #cyberculture #businessbranding #brandpositioning #socialmediamarketing #smallbusiness #uni #university #assignment

🗯7/10 Assortment of Data and Curation🗯 – biggest YES of them all. Instragram cuts out the meticulous nature of manually reaching followers/potential clients as seen in traditional marketing methods. Exposure due to hashtagging, frequent posting, exposure on search page due to algorithmic patterning ,notification of live streaming and a fellowship of followers allows for a more direct approach of exposure to the right people. 📷 | Screenshot from blog.instagram – http://blog.instagram.com/post/153474421572/161121-launches #followers #exposure #algorithm #curate #content #memex #hashtag #data #datasharing #geotag#vannerbarbush #technology #instagram #digitalartifact #branding #cyberculture #businessbranding #brandpositioning #socialmediamarketing #smallbusiness #uni #university #assignment

🗯8/10 Applying Bush’s Model & Key Concepts that will shape what is produced🗯 Much like Bush developed a technology to overcome physical limitations of curation, I am going to utilise a platform that will fine tune posts that represent a businesses brand and it’s positioning. By taking the model of strict content curation, business related graphics will be shared on collections and expand business branding. Taking small – medium business branding to cyberspace will enable heightened interaction between the mediums content and followers. 📷 | Image from Shutterstock – https://cdn.shutterstock.com/shutterstock/videos/11112563/thumb/9.jpg #followers #exposure #algorithm #curate #content  #hashtag #data #datasharing #geotag #vannevarbush #technology #instagram #digitalartifact #branding #cyberculture #businessbranding #brandpositioning #socialmediamarketing #smallbusiness #uni #university #assignment #laptop #flatlay #flatlaystyle

🗯9/10 Other important points🗯 Much like Bush compares technologies of his time, like his example of photography continually evolving and growing, branding is much the same. Hence the importance of staying ahead and developing a firm brand positioning online. @forbes article “How Millennials Are Changing The Way Companies Build Brands” emphasizes how Brands are paying better attention to millennials and their values, by teeing up with technology – a part of millenials everyday lives. Social media platforms allows for businesses to build better relationships with clients/customers and engaging with important issues, values and morals. Standard branding models, such as window front displays, shops décor and synonymous brochures, flyers, business cards and so on just don’t make the cut anymore. Yes, they are important, but they don’t allow for rapport construction and relationship building. The evolution of brands positioning online does enable this, via direct contact. And with more and more businesses jumping on board, I will need to research how to most effectively approach this. 📷 | Image from Pixaby – https://pixabay.com/p-1149544/?no_redirect #evolution #digitalmedia #challenges #followers #exposure #algorithm #curate #content #memex #hashtag #data #datasharing #geotag#vannevarbush #technology #instagram #digitalartifact #branding #cyberculture #businessbranding #brandpositioning #socialmediamarketing #smallbusiness #uni #university #assignment

🗯10/10 Challenges that may arise with my DA🗯 A challenge I will have throughout branding, especially online, is differentiating between every other day spa out there. With an abundance of other instagram pages it is easy for ones experience to be expanded at a prodigious rate. This challenge tends to be universal, as stated by Bush, that “the summation of human experience is being expanded at a prodigious rate, and the means we use for threading through the consequent maze to the momentarily important item is the same as was used in the days of square-rigged ships” (1945, p. 2). 📷 | Screenshot from @edenspas #online #offline #evolution #digitalmedia #challenges #followers #exposure #algorithm #curate #content #memex #hashtag #data #datasharing #geotag#vannevarbush #technology #instagram #digitalartifact #branding #cyberculture #businessbranding #brandpositioning #socialmediamarketing #smallbusiness #uni #university #assignment
